Malaysian authorities seized more than 6,000 copies of a pro-opposition newspaper amid a dispute over whether it flouted the country's strict publication laws, 'The Straits Times' quoted officials as saying on May 25. According to the home ministry, the paper, 'Kabar Era Pakatan' (Alliance Era News', was pulled out because "it had no publication permit'. Malaysian publications need government-approved licenses, which are renewed annually. An official was also quoted as saying that the publisher had applied for the same permit with the paper having a different name and layout.
