Tribal Journalists to Get Compensations, Training
|
Pakistan's Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) president Ibrahim Shinwari in a press conference at Peshawar on May 10 said the incumbent officers of the TUJ would honour working tribal journalists by giving them awards and cash prizes at the end of this year. Prominent media organisations have been contacted to train the tribal working journalists keeping in view the ongoing war on terror fought in tribal areas of the country, said Shinwari, who vowed that pressure would be built on all those print and electronic media groups that were not paying salaries to the tribal journalists. It is not fair to deprive the tribal journalists of their salaries, which is their basic right, Shinwari added. A list of the most affected tribal journalists have been given to the governor and FATA secretariat officials for financial assistance. Shinwari said that majority of the tribal journalists had suffered in the tribal areas due to militancy and military operations. He also said that government had done nothing to help the displaced and affected tribal journalists in this critical hour of need. |
