2nd East-West Center Int'l Media Conference Set Apr 25-28

The Asia Pacific Center for Journalists and the University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre is holding the East-West Center's second biennial international media conference in Hong Kong from Apr. 25 to 28, 2010. Open to all media professionals, the conference aims to build new networks and information sources among more than 200 journalists and other professionals from both the United States and countries in the Asia-Pacific region. With the theme 'Reporting New Realities in Asia and the Pacific', the event will provide on-the-ground updates on news and media issues via keynote speeches, panel discussions, a study tour, among others. Featured speakers and panelists include Association of Southeast Asian Nations Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, Caixin Media editor-in-chief Hu Shuli, and former media advisor to the Indian Prime Minister Sanjaya Baru. Among the topics to be discussed include the new political and economic realities in Asia, environment reporting Asia's emerging democracies, community-driven media, media issues, health reporting and Internet freedom.
