THAILAND: Social-networking Sites a Boon for Mainstream Media
|
With the widespread use of socialnetworking websites, it's not surprising that more and more members of the Thai mainstream media are opting for this new outlet. Nation Channel reporter Noppatjak Attanon, 25, is one of the many reporters capitalising on online social networks. He has been using Twitter, Facebook and other blogging websites to update news and file his own reports for almost a year now. "I was first inspired to use social media outlets during last April's Songkran mayhem. I was at the Metropolitan Police Bureau posting realtime developments of the riot on Twitter via my mobile phone. My Twitter account is linked to Facebook and my blog. This helped me realise the importance of socialnetworking websites and I have been using them to provide the 4,500 members of my network with the latest developments," Noppatjak said. "The first thing I do after waking up is monitor news updates on Twitter via my BlackBerry. I no longer use the shortmessage service to get news updates." Click here for more. |
