Pakistan Journalists Demand Protection, Benefits
|
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has asked the government to make arrangements for the protection of media workers via a life insurance and a victim fund. It has also asked to provide job security, capacity building and an assurance of a conducive working environment for members of the media. The PFUJ's Federal Executive Council (FEC) also demanded in a meeting held in Islamabad recently that media workers be provided health facilities without any charges in all government hospitals. They also pushed for a permanent and long-term planning to be made for capacity enhancement of journalists, introduction of short courses at university levels for media workers, capacity building courses and training in government universities free of cost. |
