Prostitution Ring Recruits Girls on Facebook
|
Two girls aged 15 and 16, lured by luxury goods, joined a prostitution ring in the eastern Java capital of Surabaya, Indonesia's second largest city, via the popular social networking site Facebook, the 'Jakarta Globe' reported Feb. 2. According to the article, police authorities said luxury items were the "main draw for young girls caught up in prostitution rings". It added that underage prostitution in Indonesia was becoming harder to detect because the organisations had turned to the Internet to market their services. Police said that one of the suspects "posted the girls' pictures on his personal Facebook web page and arranged for 'hook-ups' through that account. The report further said that "men would arrange for the girls to meet with clients via Facebook's instant messaging service". Click here for the full story. |
