There is a strong link between heavy internet use and depression, the BBC quoted UK psychologists as saying in an article on Feb. 3, 2010. The BBC report said that the study, which came out in the 'Psychopathology' journal, found 1.2 percent of people surveyed were 'internet addicts', and that many of these were depressed. "The Leeds University team stressed they could not say one necessarily caused the other, and that most internet users did not suffer mental health problems," added the report. The conclusions, it further said, were based on 1,319 responses from individuals aged 16 to 51, to an online questionnaire. Some 18 respondents, or 1.2 percent of the total, were classified as 'internet addicts'. Click here for more. |
