HIV/AIDS Documentary Screens at Bangkok World Film Festival

The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) announces the screening of 'Diamonds', the inspiring lives of women living with HIV/AIDS on Nov. 7, 2009 at the Bangkok World Film Festival at Paragon Cineplex, Bangkok, Thailand.

The screening will be followed  by a Q&A with filmmaker Mikael Enlund and author Dr Susan Paxton.

Like diamonds, formed under immense pressure to become the strongest and most brilliant natural substance known on earth, these women have overcome incredible challenges to emerge as shining examples, advocates for women living with HIV and AIDS.

In this documentary, the women share their stories with Susan Paxton, author and HIV activist. They talk about their journeys, about the threat of losing their children, the fear of being cast out by society, of eventually accepting themselves as positive women and ultimately becoming leaders in their communities.  Their lives carry a powerful message of hope and empowerment.

Diamonds is the result of a unique process where people living with HIV have been involved in the film's production, from beginning to end.
